Joan M. Racicot, of Cresse Ave., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, Saturday, November 27, 2010. Born in New York City, Joan graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic Central High School in 1966, then on to SUNY Albany, where she graduated valedictorian. She worked for Sipperly and Associates as an administrative assistant then in the same capacity for Washington and Associates, a company that oversaw projects for Knolls Atomic Power Lab. Joan was very active in animal rescue. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Bernice Orlando; and her stepmother, Alia Orlando. Survivors include three sisters, Jacqueline Scholz of Syracuse, Patricia Carver of Enid, OK; her twin, Janice McBride of Rotterdam; and a brother, Michael Orlando. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and four loving cats. Funeral service, Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Coxsackie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
