Baltimore, MD - Ervin G. Rauhauser, 89, formerly of Rexford, passed away Wednesday June 27, 2012. Erv was born in Schenectady the son of the late Mervin and Clara (Arnds) Rauhauser and was a lifelong area resident, until recently moving to Maryland to be close to his daughter, Karen. He proudly served in the US Navy during WW II and worked for the General Electric Co. for 39 years. He exemplified what Tom Brokaw refers to as "America's Greatest Generation". Erv was a 50 year member of the Calvary Episcopal Church in Burnt Hills, Rexford Fire Dept, St. George's Masonic Lodge #6 and Sigma Bodies AASR. He was a lifetime member of Saratoga County volunteer Fireman's Association and the Saratoga County volunteer Fire Police Association. Erv was also a member of the American Legion Post #1450, American Legion Drum and Bugle Core of Schenectady, the Alplaus Fire Dept. Drum and Bugle Core and a US Naval Memorial Member #7063 and Plank Owner of the US Naval Memorial. Erv was a loving family man who enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, and horseshoes. He was a regular at many local diners and never met a lemon meringue pie he didn't like. Erv is survived by his children: Jeffrey (Connie Rowe) Rauhauser and Karen (Dave) McClelland, grandchildren: Rich (Ashley) Rauhauser, Rebecca Rauhauser, Corie Rowe, Kris Rowe and Katie McClelland and great-grandchildren Hunter and Ivy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 38 years Gloria (Schmidt) Rauhauser. The funeral service will be 10:00 am Monday at Daly Funeral Home 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be Sunday 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made in Erv's name to www.honorflight.org.
