Schenectady - Rosalyn "Roe" Rieck, 68, passed away peacefully Friday, July 27, 2012, at her home with her beloved husband, Peter at her side. Roe was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena (DiMeo) Schettina and was a lifelong area resident. She was a hair stylist for many years, working at several shops in the Schenectady area, working at Mr. James Hair Salon on State St. the longest. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and camping. Roe loved helping people, her animals and above all her family. She was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony's Church. In addition to her husband, Peter, Roe is survived by her sister, Patricia (John) Leahy; niece and nephews, Theresa (Jeff) Foster, John (Karen) Leahy and Joseph (Ginny) Leahy; uncle, Herman (Rita) DiMeo; two stepchildren, Thomas (Kelly Machia) Rieck and Nola (Ralph Meyers) Van Ness; and several stepgrandchildren and cousins. The funeral service will be Thursday, 9:15 a.m., from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady then to St. Anthony's Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 or St. Anthony's Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY 12308. Roe's family would like to thank the staff at Ellis Hospital, especially those working on C-6 and A-5 for the kindness and care provided to Rosalyn and her family.
