Virginia "Ginny" Hunter Ring, 92, (August 4, 1917), of Westboro, MA, died peacefully on January 9, 2010. A native of Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Davis) Hunter and Walter R. Hunter and the wife of the late David J. Ring. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. She married David on February 8, 1942 in Savannah, Georgia while he was stationed there during World War II. They were later stationed in Atlantic City, New Jersey until they returned to Schenectady at the end of the war. Ginny was the proud mother of three children, David, Margaret, and Stephen. Ginny and her family lived for many years on Lexington Avenue and spent many joyful summers on Galway Lake with her father, brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Violet Hunter, and their family. She worked for the Schenectady Chemicals Company until her retirement, was a parishioner of Saint John the Evangelist Church, and was an active member of the Mothers' Club at Bishop Gibbons High School. Ginny enjoyed socializing and playing bridge with her many friends in Schenectady. After her retirement, Ginny moved to Shrewsbury, MA to be closer to family. She lived there until 2004 when she moved to the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility in Westboro, MA, where she received loving and dedicated care until her passing. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Murphy of Worcester, MA; her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Cinda Ring of West Simsbury, CT; her brother, Walter of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Jeffrey and Erin; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews that she was especially close to, including Thomas and Nancy Hunter of Scotia, NY, James and Margaret Hunter of Roswell, GA, Pat and Fred Schultz of Big Canoe, GA, and Martin Hunter of Orlando, FL. Funeral services Wednesday morning at 8:30 from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. and 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Tuesday evening from 5 to 7. Interment in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union College Alumni Association in memory of David J. Ring (class of 1937) and David H. Ring (class of 1966).
