Obituary of Nicholas Rocissano

Nicholas J. Rocissano, 92, of Schenectady, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Ellis Medicine Health and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness. Mr. Rocissano was born in Fairmont, West Virginia, and moved to Schenectady where he was educated and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was owner and operator of the Europa Enterprises. He operated the Europa School of Cosmetology for many years, as well as Nicholas Hairstylist and Hair 2000, before retiring. Nick will be remembered as a devoted family man and a benevolent man who loved life with his many interests, including travel, gardening, cooking, bowling, ballroom dancing and reading. He was always there for family and friends and anyone who met him. He was married to Lillian Gonzalez Rocissano; she died in 1984. Nick is survived by four children, Lorraine Rocissano (Don Fusting) of Baltimore, James Rocissano of Clifton Park, Laura (Christopher) DuPre of Nashville, and Lydia (Rob) Marola of Scotia; one sister, Angelina Fiorello of Schenectady; nine grandchildren, Christopher and Quinn Fusting, Anthony Rocissano, Andre, Katie and Melissa DuPre, Grace, Peter and Abigail Marola; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four siblings. Funeral service, Saturday morning, 8:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, and 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Friday, 4 to 8 in the evening at the funeral home. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 222 Lafayette St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
