Eleanor M. Bendl, 90, of Parkland Gardens at the Kingsway Community, passed away Tuesday morning, April 14, 2009. She was a longtime Gloversville resident. Eleanor was born in Gloversville on December 19, 1918, the daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Armstrong Jones. She was a graduate of Gloversville High School. For several years, Eleanor was employed by WPA (Work Progress Administration), a program created by President Franklin Roosevelt. She subsequently worked for many years in the office at Perrella Glove Company in Gloversville. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Charles W. Bendl, whom she married September 30, 1939. He died in October 2007. Survivors include her children, Joan Haley of Bradenton, FL, Robert Bendl and his wife, Pat of Niskayuna; three grandchildren, Robert A. Bendl and his wife, Lauren of Lafayette Hill, PA, Susan Gregory and her husband, Daniel of Gig Harbor, WA, and Thomas Bendl and his wife, Stacy of Jamestown, NC; and seven great-grandchildren, Allison, Rachel, Ryan, Jessica, Kellen, Ashley, and Jocelyn. Funeral service will be held Monday, April 27, at 11:15 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
