Curtis R. Rodd, 85, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Home. Curtis was born in Schenectady on October 3, 1924, the son of the late Louis and Cecelia Cull Rodd. He graduated from the former Draper High School and college in Albany. Curtis faithfully served in the United States Navy during World War II, where he was stationed in Normandy and the South Pacific. He was employed by General Electric's Research and Development as a metalographer. Curtis retired in 1986. He was a communicant and usher at St. Gabriel's Church in Rotterdam, a member of the Empire State Aerosciences Museum, participated in radio control and several local flying clubs. Survivors include his children, Paulette Zazycki and her husband, Chet of Glenville, and Douglas Rodd and his wife, Elaine of Schenectady; and grandchildren, Allison Palmer and her husband, Richard, Joshua Rodd and his wife, Weijing, Stephanie Rodd, and Jeremy Rodd. Funeral service and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Empire State Aerosciences Museum, 250 Rudy Chase Drive, Glenville, NY 12302.
