Obituary of Arthur Rost

Arthur "Rusty" C. Rost III, 68, of Delanson, went to be with the Lord, Monday, November 14, 2011. Rusty was born in Pendleton, OR, October 7, 1943, the son of the late Arthur and Phyllis Rost. He moved to Schenectady as a young boy and has been a resident of the area ever since. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1968. He served in Vietnam and participated in the astronaut training program. After leaving the service, Rusty worked for General Electric for more the 35 years as a controls engineer and most recently worked for Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis in the same capacity. He was a man with many interests, including working with the sheep on their small hobby farm, Lionel trains, model rocketry, coin collecting, photography and astronomy. Above all, Rusty was a devoted family man and always took on their passions as if they were his own, from assisting in the Altamont Fair Sheep Barn with his beloved wife, to working on 4-H projects with his daughter and Boy Scout merit badges with his son. Rusty will always be remembered for his kind and generous spirit. He was always willing to jump in and lend a hand no matter who asked or how hard the task. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Renkawitz) Rost; daughter, Heather Rost (Mark Havert); son, Patrick Rost; beloved grandson, Jarod Yost; brother, Richard Rost; beloved family dog, Dutchess; "brother," Dana Renkawitz and several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by brother, Daniel Rost; and sister, Linda Rost. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Christ Church, 970 State St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be held Sunday 3 to 6 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Albany, 139 South Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208
