Schenectady - Fenice Bernasconi, 100, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 4, 2012. Fenice was born and educated in Northfield, VT and was the daughter of the late Louis and Teresa Pochetti. She was the wife of the late Angelo Bernasconi. As a young woman, she lived in the Bronx, New Rochelle and on Long Island. She and her husband moved to Schenectady in 1943. She worked at the Carl Co. in downtown Schenectady for more than 40 years, retiring in 1990. Fenice was a longtime parishioner of St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Fenice is survived by her niece, Loretta Acheson; nephews, John Poccia, Larry Pochetti, Richard Pochetti, Arnold Scarano and Anthony Scarano; 13 great-nieces and nephews and 10 great-great-nieces and nephews. Fenice was predeceased by a brother, Edward Pochetti and sisters, Medea Pochetti Poccia and Diana Pochetti Scarano. We would like to thank the staff at the Stockade at Ellis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion during her stay. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Carmen Rd., Guilderland. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory, to St. Madeleine Sophie Church.
