Schenectady - Jack passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at home, peacefully, with his family by his side, after a short, but hard-fought battle with lung cancer. He was 85. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline; two loving children, Sharon and Jay; twograndchildren, Harry and Anna; and a great-grandson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A prominent area painting contractor, a business he took over from his father, he enjoyed meeting the many different clients around the area he served throughout the years. Jack was an avid outdoorsman. He loved the Adirondacks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, swimming, hiking and especially boating on The Great Sacandaga Lake, where he was affecionately known as the mayor of Sand Island. Jack volunteered and served in The United States Army Air Force during World War II, where he attained the rank of corporal before being honorably discharged in November of 1946. Jack had been a member of several organizations including Kiwanis, Rotterdam Elks, the former St. Helen's Church and Scotia Rotary, where he especially enjoyed the volunteer trips to the Ronald McDonald House, in Albany. All those who knew Jack, will remember his quick wit and unbelievable sense of humor. He had a joke for every thing.
