June Elizabeth Johnson-Scofield, daughter of the late Herbert Johnson and Hannah Pearl Lasher-Johnson, passed away the evening of November 2nd, 2010, at the Ellis Residential Center of McClellan St., in Schenectady, at the age of 87. She was a descendant of Israel Johnson of Clear Pond who had a huge part in the redesigning the first saw mill back in 1826 . She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth E. Johnson-DesRoches; brothers, Herbert H. Johnson, Jr. and Raymond C. Johnson; also a daughter, Peggy Etping-Pulver. She is survived by Patricia Epting-(Gannon), Penny Epting-Maier (Francis Maier); and two sons, Robert Epting, Jr. (late Kathleen) and Thomas Epting (Jan); 19 of her 20 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and their families, Joyce Roseboom (Carlton) of Ballston Spa, NY and Judy Johnson-Winner (Harry B. Winner Jr.) of Charlottesville, Virginia; as well as her two second cousins, Margaret Johnson-Hurd (Thomas) and Judy Johnston-Desantis of Schenectady. She married the late Robert Epting in 1941, and remarried the late Charles L. Scofield in 1974. Together she and Charles raised her granddaughter, Mildred Ramsey-Dickenson (Daniel) and great-granddaughter, Carolyn M. Scofield. June enjoyed country and Western music, crocheting, reading and long drives to the Adirondack Region where her Johnson family was from. She was a home heatlh aide in the Schenectady area, a lifelong resident of the Capital Distict. She was a kind and loving woman to those she cared for and she will be missed and forever be in the hearts of those who knew her best. Her legacy will go on in those she left beind. June will be laid to rest for eternity in the Village Cemetery, in Ballston Spa on November 9th.
