Samuel Bianco Obituary

Samuel J. Bianco, 92, of Rosa Road, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Ellis Hospital. Sam was born in Schenectady on November 22, 1916, a son of the late Dominic and Philomena D'Orio Bianco. He was a graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School and faithfully served in the United States Navy during World War II. Sam owned and operated Hurley's Card Shop and multiple franchises of Hallmark Cards in Albany, Troy and Saratoga. He was also employed by Ellis Hospital as a parking attendant, until his retirement at the age of 82. Sam had a great love for work and always enjoyed the outdoors. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Schenectady. Predeceased by his wife, Yolanda DeCredico Bianco, who died in 1999. Also predeceased by his siblings, Mary DeVincenzo, Ilene Bianco and Herman Bianco. Survivors include his children, Maureen John and her husband, Bill of Clifton Park and Arthur Bianco and his wife, Tomi of Ballston Lake; grandchildren, Kim Thomas, Ryan Pezzano, Samantha John, Thomas Bianco and Gregory Bianco; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral service and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Sam's name to the Ellis Hospital Foundation, 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
