Barbara Sharpe Obituary

Barbara J. Sharpe, 74, of Queen Philomena Blvd., died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Albany Medical Center, after a sudden illness. Barbara was born and educated in Ballston Spa where she was a graduate of Ballston Spa High School. She had been the Director of Food Stamps for the Department of Social Services in Saratoga County, retiring several years ago, after many years of service to the county. She loved spending time with her family, children and grandchildren and especially those sister trips. She also enjoyed reading and playing cards. She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Sharpe; two daughters, Robbin (William) Suess of Connecticut and Wendy (Ed) Butz of Schenectady; six brothers and sisters, Marion (Clark) Watson of Ballston Spa, Geoffrey Barnes, Jr. of Ocala, FL, George (Betty) Barnes of Illion, Terrill (Andrew) Curran of Hannibal, Elaine (Sam) Curcio of Ballston Spa, and Valarie (Mark) DeChene of Ballston Lake; four grandchildren, Katharyn and Geoffrey Suess and Kelsey and Laura Butz; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will be held from 12 to 1 o'clock at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart/Stroke, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
