Obituary of Tara Shave

SAYRE, PA- Tara Ann Atashian Shave, 41, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at home. Tara was born in Niskayuna on September 29, 1969. She was raised and educated in the Schenectady area, and was a graduate of Niskayuna High School, class of 1987. For ten years Tara worked for Combined Life Insurance, in Latham, as an account specialist. She attended nursing school in Pennsylvania where she earned a degree as a certified nurses' assistant. Tara completed school at the top of her class and received an award as the most compassionate student. She was currently employed at Willow Point Nursing Home in Pennsylvania as a C.N.A. While working at Willow Point, she attended night school to earn an additional degree for medical billing and coding. Tara was a true lover of animals and the outdoors. She and her husband dreamed of turning their scenic property into a horse farm. Until then, Tara greatly enjoyed sitting on her front porch, sipping coffee, while savoring the splendid views of the Bradford County Valley. Survivors include her husband, Stephen J. Shave, Jr., whom she married August 30, 2008; two sons, John R. and Shawn M. French; father, Aram A. Atashian, Jr. and his wife Judith of Schenectady; mother, Mary E. Roberts and her husband William of Amsterdam; two sisters, Tracy L. Starr and her husband Gary, and Lorri J. Parry and her husband Christopher; paternal grandmother, June M. Atashian; father-in-law, Stephen J. Shave, Sr. and his wife Ann; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Tara was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Aram A. Atashian, Sr.; and her maternal grandparents, William F. and Floy M. Hall. Funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 10 A.M. at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, with Father Stepanos Doudoukjian officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Tara deeply loved Christmastime and decorating her home. As we prepare for the Christmas holiday, please remember in your hearts this lovely woman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tara's name to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loundonville, N.Y. 12211 or to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, N.Y. 12302.
