Wallace Sholtes Obituary

Wallace D. Sholtes, 83, of Colonie passed away peacefully on Thursday March 12, 2009. Wally was a longtime resident of Rotterdam, NY and Deland FL. Wally was born in Schenectady on April 10, 1925. He was in the US Army as a young man when he received a Purple Heart. As a young man Wallace and his brother Alton ran Sholtes Brothers Ice Co. He worked at Buhrmasters Oil Company and Knolls Atomic Power Lab as a fireman before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Rotterdam Elks, Bellevue Reformed Church and was a volunteer fireman for many years at South Schenectady and Rotterdam Dist # 2 fire Depts. Wally was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years Gwendolyn in 2006. Survivors include his son Neal Sholtes (Kim) and his three grandchildren Joseph, Cody, and Marisa all of Colonie, NY. Funeral will be private and at convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Rotterdam Dist. #2 Fire Dept. 1400 Curry Road Rotterdam, NY 12306
