Robert F. Skiff, 88, of Niskayuna Drive, entered into eternal rest Sunday evening, September 6, 2009 at Ellis Hospital. Robert was born in Cambridge, NY on July 3, 1921, a son of the late Edward and Carrie Beadle Skiff. He was educated in Greenwich Schools and was a graduate of Greenwich High School, class of 1940. From 1942 to 1946 Robert faithfully served in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in the Pacific. While serving, he was a member of the Patrol Air Technical Service Unit. He was employed by General Electric for seven years prior to his employment for the U.S. Postal Service. Robert worked at Schenectady's Jay Street office for 28 years. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Lydia Irene Batty Skiff, whom he married February 15, 1947; daughter, Joan McGrath and her husband, Jim of Webster, NY, and grandchildren, Kristin, Michael, Thomas and Ryan; sons, Ramon of Schenectady, and Joseph and his wife, Brenda of Austin, TX, and grandchildren, Joseph II and Victoria; brother, William Skiff of Argyle, NY; sister, Lydia Ernst of Lake George; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service, Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, then to Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Road, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
