Lillian R. Smith, 98, died peacefully, Saturday afternoon, October 23, 2010, at the Glendale Nursing Home, following a long illness. Born May 28, 1912 and educated in Montreal, Canada, she moved to Keeseville, New York, then to the Schenectady-Scotia area, where she spent most of her adult life. She was employed by the General Electric Company, H.S. Barney Company, the Carl Company and the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville. Lillian was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society . She was a communicant of the church of the Immaculate Conception. Survivors include her son, Douglas Smith of Clayton, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Christina Orgnon of Advance, North Carolina and Shawn Smith of Clayton, North Carolina; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alyson, Ryan, Annalisa, and Teagan; and several nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Paul E. Smith; two sisters, Patricia Brown and Violet Moran; three brothers, Earl, Walter, and Edward Crevier. In celebration of Lillian's life there will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Friday at 9 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie. By request, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Glenville Day Hab, Helping Hand Lane, Glenville, NY 12302 (Attn: Karen Gandolfo) or Schenectady Community Hospice, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Glendale Home and Community Hospice for their kindness, caring and the professional services offered. We truly appreciate everything they did for Lillian.
