Obituary of Patrick Smith

Salisbury, MD - Patrick Bryce Smith, 48, of Salisbury, MD (formerly of Malta, NY) passed away at his home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, June 28, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. Pat was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 12, 1963. Pat's family moved from Brooklyn, to Wellsville, NY, settling in Niskayuna, NY in 1976. Pat is a Niskayuna High School graduate, Class of 1982. Pat continued his post secondary education, graduating in 1986 from Niagara University with a degree in business management. Following college, Pat returned to the Capital District. His love of work coupled with business management skills led him to work with the following companies: Steak's Etc., Ryder Transportation, Nova Care, HR Logic, Stewart's (Jonesville), Primerica and The Capitol Group. In 2008, Pat moved to Salisbury, MD where he was employed with The Harvard Group (presently Labinal). Family, friends and Labrador retrievers were Pat's passion and joy. Pat loved laughing, baseball, softball, golfing, camping, fishing, Christmas, jokes, vacations and cruises. Pat was an avid NY Mets and NY Giants fan. Pat was involved in numerous league sports in Salisbury, MD and Malta, NY. Simply put, Pat loved life, was extremely thoughtful, had a soft presence, sincere smile and left an indelible mark on those who knew him. Pat is survived by his mother, Kathleen M. Smith of Dagsboro, DE (formerly of Niskayuna); siblings Amy Bomm (Smith) and her husband, Joe of Glenville, NY, Susan Smith of Plattsburgh, NY, Andrew Smith and his wife, Erin of Hoosick Falls, NY, Meghan Smith of Pittsburgh, PA; his dog, Hooper; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Pat was predeceased by his father, Gaylord Bryce Smith; and his dog, Zach. Funeral service Saturday morning, 10 at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha (formerly Our Lady of Fatima Church), Rosa Rd. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Friday evening, 6 to 8 at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Following the service, family and friends will gather to toast to their love and to the life of Pat at the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia.
