Obituary of Milly Spring

Milly Spring, 77, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Ellis Hospital. Milly was born in Indonesia, the daughter of the late Wilson and Johanna Parengkuan. After her parents passing at an early age, Milly and her brother were brought into the care of the Salvation Army. Her first job after that was with KLM Airlines as a stewardess. She then moved to Bremerhaven, Germany in 1960 where she worked on a U.S. Army base in the Finance Office. Milly moved to the United States in 1964 and first worked for Schenectady Savings Bank as an executive secretary and more recently for Mohawk Ambulance in the same capacity. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church of Niskayuna. Milly is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Jim Spring; son, W. Luther Shimer III; daughter-in-law, Julie Deley-Shimer; and granddaughter, Allison Shimer all of Grove City, Ohio. She is also survived by many nieces, nephew and relatives, all of Indonesia. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Henny Parengkuan. The funeral service will be held Tuesday 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1930 Hillside Ave., Niskayuna. Calling hours will be Monday 5 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
