Marilyn E. Stevens, 87, formerly of Niskayuna, died peacefully Friday, August 27, 2010, at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa. Marilyn was born in Schenectady, the daughter of William and Mary Geier Spellman. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. For over 30 years, she was employed by New York Telephone and Verizon. Marilyn was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, St. Elizabeth's Auxiliary, and had been a volunteer and auxiliary member of St. Clare's Hospital. She was a faith-filled woman who had been a communicant of several parishes throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted daughter and caregiver, Mary A. (Thomas) Mortka; daughters-in-law, Jean C. Stevens and Margaret Stevens; her brother, William Spellman; grandchildren, Todd (Kimberly) Stevens, Kimberly Stevens and Derek Stevens; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Stevens; and a niece. She was predeceased by her two sons, Mark Stevens and Michael J. Stevens, Ph.D. Funeral service Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, and 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Tuesday evening, 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Presentation, Haswell Rd., Watervliet, NY, or Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa, NY.
