Obituary of Muriel Stivers

Muriel R. Stivers, 93, formerly of Wade Lupe Towers, Schaffer Heights and Highland Apartments, died March 2, 2011, at the Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center. Muriel was born in Schenectady, the daughter of Walter and Josie Bradshaw and was a graduate of Scotia High School, class of 1936. She had been a medical secretary and bookkeeper for Ellis Hospital for many years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as the New York State president from 1955 to 1966. She was the devoted and loving wife of John C. Stivers for 62 years; they married on November 21, 1945. He died in 2008. Survivors include many nieces and nephews, Domenick (Mary) Della Rocco, Donald Sanders, Joan (Salvatore) Davi, and Paula Della Rocco; great nieces and nephews and special extended family, Gerald and Lori Martin. Muriel was predeceased by niece and nephew, Patricia Sanders and Patric Della Rocco. Funeral service Wednesday morning 11 a.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
