Clara Thomas, 88, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Clara was born in Stockton, IL, the daughter of the late Anna and John Jurczynski. Her family moved to the Schenectady area when she was a young girl and she graduated from Draper High School. She worked for the General Electric Co., Van Curler Motors, and New York State Auto Dealers Insurance Group, retiring after 50 years in the work force. Clara was a member of St. Anthony's Guild and St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in Rotterdam. She enjoyed reading mysteries and westerns and completing jigsaw puzzles. Clara was a wildlife enthusiast whose interests included cars, sewing, gardening, and various winter activities. She was predeceased by her husband, Rocco Thomas, August 29, 1977. Clara is survived by her son, Joseph G. (Cristina) Thomas M.D. of Orange Park, FL; daughter, Veronica A. Thomas of Rotterdam, NY; grandchildren, Amanda Thomas and Natalie Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17th at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 3040 Hamburg St., Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the Mass on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Guild, 144 West 32nd Street, NY, NY 10001-3202.
