Obituary of Edna Thomas

Edna Mae Thomas, 88, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at home after fighting a short illness. Edna M. Thomas, daughter of Edward and Jenny O'Gorman, was born on February 12, 1921 in Schenectady, NY. A retiree from the New York State Department of Labor, she lived in Schenectady for 87 years until moving to Peoria, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel C. Thomas, Sr., former Deputy Undersheriff of Schenectady County, on April 20, 2006. Survivors: son, Daniel C. Thomas, Jr. and wife, Barbara Thomas of Duanesburg, NY; daughter, Jeannine M. Apostle and husband, Lynn Apostle of Peoria, AZ; grandson, Kevin Thomas and wife, Kim Thomas of Rotterdam, NY; granddaughter, Stacey Van Natten and husband, Greg Van Natten of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter, Lisa Kenyon and husband, Brandon Hines of Austin, TX; grandson, Michael Kenyon and wife, Leah Kenyon of Irving, TX; grandson, Mark Apostle and wife, Elaine Apostle of San Antonio, TX: granddaughter, Stacey Haydel and husband, Jason Haydel of Austin, TX; grandson, Raymond Smith and wife, Franciene Smith of Duanesburg, NY; 13 great-grandchildren: four in Texas, seven in New York and two in North Carolina; niece, Kathy Kilmer of Palm Springs, CA; niece, Stella Barry of Broadalbin, NY; and niece, Margaret Brisson of Los Angeles, CA. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday morning, April 8, 2009 at 9 o'clock at St. Luke's Church, 1241 State St. (www.stlukesofschenectady .org). There will be no calling hours.
