Obituary of Joan Toscana

Joan E. Toscano, 76, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Ellis Hospital. Joan was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Harry and Emma (Collins) Culligan, and was a lifelong area resident. She worked for Bellevue Woman's Hospital for more than 25 years and loved to cook and travel. Joan was a warm hearted, fun loving woman who was a wonderful grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony J. Toscano; her sons, Joseph and James Toscano; and brother, Thomas Culligan. Joan is survived by her children, Jeanne E. Toscano, Jack H. Toscano, and Jeffrey R. and wife, Tracy Toscano; grandchildren, Anthony, Alicia, Alexandra, Gabrielle, and Hannah Toscano, and dear friends Marie and Andrea. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady.
