Obituary of Karin Valente

Karin C. Valente, 55, of Grand Blvd., died Sunday, November 29, 2009, at St. Peter's Hospice Inn, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hartford, CT, she grew up in Poughkeepsie, where she was a graduate of Arlington High School. She graduated with honors from Dutchess Community College and Albany State University. Karin owned and operated her own database consulting business prior to working for HealthNow, Inc., where she was an operations specialist for many years. At one time, Karin was a member of Schenectady Business and Professional Woman and Soroptimist International of Schenectady. Karin loved animals, especially her cat, Ruby Faith. Karin is survived by her husband of 25 years, Edward J. Valente. She is also survived by two stepchildren, Brian (Elissa) Valente of Colonie and Denise Valente (Jesse LaPlante) of Roanoke, VA; one brother, Peter (Valerie) Micklus of Niskayuna; and one nephew, Ryan (Nicole) Micklus of Williamsville. Funeral on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, to celebrate Karin's life. Calling hours Thursday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment, St. Cyril's Cemetery, Rotterdam.
