Obituary of Sean Valero

NISKAYUNA- Sean Warren Valero, age 20, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the University of Notre Dame, in South Bend Indiana where he was currently a student. Sean was born in Albany, N.Y. on Christmas Day 1990. He was raised and educated in Niskayuna and was a graduate of Niskayuna High School, Class of 2009. An active student, Sean participated on the Ski, Crew, Debate, and Track Teams. He also performed in the orchestra, where he played violin. Sean was a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame studying pre-med and philosophy. He was fiercely loyal to the University and the "Fighting Irish". Sean's family and friends will best remember his creativity, sensitivity, sense of humor and bright smile. He was a determined, goal-oriented and adventurous young man who enjoyed listening to music, devouring books, skiing, backpacking, discussing philosophy and debating. Sean was a communicant of St. Helen's Church, where he was an Altar Server and a member of the Youth Group. Sean's favorite memories include skiing in Utah, spending summers at Pyramid Life Center in the Adirondacks and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity projects in New Orleans and West Virginia. Beloved son of Jorge and Karen (Warren) Valero of Niskayuna; loving sister of Kerri Valero of Niskayuna; also survived by his treasured aunt, Fran Warren of Rosebud, Arkansas; his cherished uncle, Edward Valero of McAllen, Texas; and many cousins and special friends. Sean was predeceased by his adoring paternal grandparents, Adolfo and Maria Valero; and maternal grandparents, Jack and Mary Warren. He was an inspiration to many and will be truly missed. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 7th, at St. Helen's Church, 1803 Union Street, Niskayuna, at 9 A.M. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sean's name to the Schenectady Inner City Ministry Food Pantry (where he was a volunteer), 930 Albany Street, Schenectady, N.Y. 12307.
