Peter J. Weier, 58, of Albany Street, passed away Friday afternoon, March 13, 2009, at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany. Peter was born in Albany, December 14, 1950, a son of the late Joseph and Rita McNally Weier. He was educated in Schenectady and graduated from the former Linton High School, class of 1970. Peter faithfully served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1973, as well as the Army National Guard. For 25 years, he was employed at the U.S. Postal Service (New Karner Road), where he worked as a mechanic. Peter was also a member of the Albany VFW and St. John the Evangelist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Weier, whom he married May 4, 1974; a son, Joseph Weier; brother, Patrick Weier; nephew, Patrick Weier, all of Schenectady; two aunts, Marion O'Halon of San Diego and Margaret Zanca of Omaha, NE; several cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning 10:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, then to St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
