Schenectady - Louella Whalen, 84, passed away Sunday December 23, 2012 at Ellis Hospital Critical Care Unit, after a short illness, with all her loving family and friends at her side. She was born in Schenectady December 30, 1927 and was a lifelong area resident. Louella will always be remembered as a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her monthly trip to the Saratoga Racino. She was predeceased by her husband Wilson A. Whalen, son James Civitello and several brothers and sisters. Louella is survived by her children: Louella (Danny) Moore of Niskayuna, Agnes (Barry Sr.) Mesec of Schenectady, Marion Williams of Florida, Robert (Tina) Civitello, Sr. of Schenectady, Michael Civitello, Sr. of Glens Falls and Tina (Wayne Sr.) Dematteo of Schenectady. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Friday 11:00 am at Daly Funeral Home 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be Thursday 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery.
