Obituary of John Zenner

John J. Zenner, 89, of Stanford Ave., died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at home after a long illness. Mr. Zenner was born in Niskayuna, the son of Joseph M. and Julia Frances Gahagan Zenner. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, serving in World War II and was also retired from the Air Force Reserves. John has worked at Sealtest Ice Cream for 16 years from 1948 till 1964, later working at the General Electric Co. as a machinist, retiring in 1985. He will be remembered by family and friends as an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed gardening. John was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred Karl Zenner, she died in 1964; and a brother, Joseph "Jo-Jo" Zenner. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Bombeck Zenner, they married January 25, 1966; five children, John J. Zenner of Waterford, June E. (Gary) Marion of West Lake, OH, George V.(Karen) Zenner of Saratoga Springs, James A. Zenner of Niskyuna and Gary (Elizabeth) Feulner of Glenville; one sister, Gertrude (John) McLeod of Rexford; sister-in-law, Rose Zenner of Oneonta; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral service, Tuesday morning, 8:15, from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 9 o'clock at St. Paul the Apostle Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Monday evening, 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady, with military honors.
