Obituary of Patrick Iovino

Pattersonville - Patrick F. Iovino Sr., born March 17, 1949, died Monday, March 5, 2013, after a long illness at home, with his loving family at his side. Patrick was a 1968 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and was employed at GE as a mechanic from 1968 until 1976. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1969 until 1972. He was the owner of Pat's Small Engine Repair Shop for 10 years. Pat was also a substitute teacher for BOCES of Schenectady for many years. He was part of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 88 of Rotterdam, part of the Pattersonville Volunteer Firehouse (fire police, dispatcher, and social president for over 30 years), was a Pack 53 Cubmaster for five years in the early 1980s, team San Soucies manager of the Woestina Little League in the 1980s. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beverly Paquin; his children, Maria Carlone (Victor), Patrick Iovino Jr. (Kimberly Cenci), Kevin Iovino (Teresa Kauffman); his grand- children, Aaron Carlone, Nicholas Carlone, Breanna Iovino, Alexandrea Iovino and Samantha Carlone-Dunham; his sis- ters-in-law, Gloria Iovino, Marilyn Stevens and Melissa Walkingstick; and his brothers-in-law, Alan Paquin and Henry Joseph Walkingstick. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Benjamin and Avelena Iovino Sr.; and his brother, Benjamin Iovino Jr. Funeral services will be held Monday 8:45 a.m. from Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, then to St. Margaret of Cortona Church in Rotterdam Junction, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Calling hours will be Sunday 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Iovino to Pattersonville Volunteer Fire Department.
