Obituary of Earlene Shayne

Earlene Stormy Shayne of Rotterdam and Ballston Lake, NY passed away on March 14, 2013. Stormy was born on November 29, 1941, daughter of the late Earl and Marian Shayne of Schenectady, NY. Stormy grew up in the Schenectady area. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and attended Green Mountain College in Vermont. Stormy had a zest for life and enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. Family was very important to Stormy and she enjoyed frequent get togethers, especially during the holidays. Stormy always had interesting and exciting stories to tell of her youth and people she met along the way. Stormy was very proud of her work with people with disabilities. She retired from the Capital Region BOCES after 30 years, 15 years in special education as a secretary and 15 years in the vocational center as an administrative assistant for the principal. She also was a realtor and was still working at Purdy Realty at the time of her death. She is survived by her companion, Bill Reilly of New York City and Sara Aynn, her beloved feline; niece, Kelly Stander (Lei) of Waterford, NY, and Kerry Shayne Sawicz of Rotterdam, NY, Tara Trombley Cheek, Drizzt'an and Bregan Cheek of New Orleans, LA, and Shawn Tromb ley (Mary) of Scotia, NY, Michael R. Sawicz of Schenectady, Cameron E. Sawicz of Rotterdam and Maureen Shayne, sister-in-law. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Shayne; her nephew, Michael Shayne and her Godchild, Nissa Mahabub. Stormy was blessed with special friends who she considered her angels. She remained very thankful for their friend- ship and support during her illness. Funeral service Monday morning March 18, 2013 10:30 from the Daly Funeral Home 242 McClellan St. and 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will precede the service Monday morning 9:30 to 10:30 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the ASPCA and Schenectady Inner City Ministry.
