Obituary of Katherine Primeau

Katherine Helen Primeau, 76, passed away Monday April 1, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Katherine was born in Ilion, NY, the daughter of the late Leo and Helen (Bubb) Donovan. She was a 1954 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and a 1957 graduate of Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing where she also worked as a RN. Katherine was employed as a RN at several other hospitals including: Good Samarian Hospital in Watertown, NY, Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, St. Claire's Hospital in Schenectady and Glendale County Nursing Home in Glenville. She also worked as a cook at St. Helen's Rectory, Plaza Day Care as an infant care worker and the Magic Kingdom also as an infant care worker. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter E. Primeau, who passed away in 1986. Katherine volunteered with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Craig Elementary School. She was a communicant of St. Helen's Church and active in the Stephen Ministry at St. Helen's Church. Katherine was a former co-leader of Phaseti Widowed Group at Haven and actively figure skated until she was 70 years old. She is survived by her children, Michael J. Primeau, Peter A. Primeau, Stephen J. Primeau and Cheryl A. Newcomb; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Donovan; sisters, Nancy Hauenstein and Mary Hickey and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday 10:15 a.m. from Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady then to St. Kateri Takekwitha, Union St. (formerly St. Helen's Church) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be Thursday 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
