Obituary of Mildred White

Ballston Lake - Mildred L. Marilyn White, 89, a past resident of Guilderland, NY and Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully after a long struggle with Alzheimer's dementia at the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home in Troy, NY on April 2, 2013. Born in Amsterdam, NY in 1923, she was the daughter of the late Earnest N. and Mary L. (Delos) Denton. Mildred was predeceased by brothers, Robert and Alfred; sister, Vera; and her beloved husband of 32 years, Richard L. White (1974). Mildred had an extensive knowledge and love of flowers which enabled her to hold various positions in the floral design field over her lifetime. She loved to travel and shop and devoted herself completely to both her grandchildren as they grew up to become young adults. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne M. White of Slingerlands; and her son, Richard D. White of Charlton. Mildred is also survived by her two grandchildren, Trennen L. (White) McClellan of Canandaigua, NY and Jon D. Spisak of Ballston Spa, and was Nana to her four great-grandchildren, Connor, Aidan, Campbell McClellan, and Gabriella Spisak. The family is especially grateful to the nursing staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for their compassionate care over a period of several years. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mildreds name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northeastern New York Chapter of Albany, NY. A private funeral service will be held at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady with interment at Fair View Cemetery in Amsterdam.
