Obituary of Ruth Powers

Schenectady - Ruth E. Powers, 84, passed away on April 12th at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. Ruth was born in Troy, New York. She was the daughter of Charles and Grace Rietfort and was a graduate of Van Rensselaer High School in 1946. She was communicant of St Paul the Apostle in Schenectady, NY. She married Raymond L. Powers in 1947. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband Raymond of 64 years. She was devoted to her five children: Thomas Powers, Nancy (Powers) Rafi, Janet (Powers) Occhino, Margaret (Powers) Darling, Joan (Powers) Wilkins. Grandchildren include: Rebecca Powers, Jessica Heeger, Amanda Furia, Muhammad Rafi, Sarah Rafi, Julie Occhino, Alex Darling, Samantha Darling, Rachel Murray, Marissa Chakmakas, Andrew Chakmakas, Ryan Wilkins, Brendon Wilkins, and four great-grandchildren Katelyn, Chelsea, Walter, Josephine. Friends may call on Monday April 15 at Daly's Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. Schenectady from 5-7 PM. Mass will be held on Tuesday April 16 at 9 am at St Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany Street Schenectady NY. Interment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
