Rotterdam - Denetta "Dee "Catherine McBride, 75, formerly of Rotterdam, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation after a long illness. Born in Schenectady, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Speace, McBride was a graduate of Draper High School. She was employed for many years at Silver Haven and Hallmark Nursing Homes before retirement. She loved to sew and handcrafted various items for family and friends. She enjoyed taking part in the Rotterdam Homemakers group and spending time with her best friend, Dorothy Aniolek. What Dee loved most of all was spending time with her beloved grandchildren as they grew. They absolutely loved their Mom Mom. Dee is survived by her children, Joseph Frith (Christine) and Edwin Frith (Kathy Habesch); four grandchildren, Angel, Danya, Jason and Jeremy; and her two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Aleigha. The family wishes to thank all from Baptist who cared for Dee since 2009, especially Dee's favorite caretaker, Swazy. Calling hours Thursday evening, 6 to 8 at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 297 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia, NY 12302 or the Rose Garden of Central Park, 50 Iroquois Way, Schenectady, NY 12304.
