Schenectady - Helen Petera (Pitera), of Cutler St., died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at home. Helen was born in Amsterdam, moved to Schenectady at age 4 and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. Through the years she worked as a nurse, mostly private duty and had been a member of many professional nurses associations. She was a faith-filled woman and had been a communicant of several churches in the Schenectady area, most recently, Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and a member of the rosary society. She is survived by several cousins. Helen was predeceased by her father and mother, Stanley and Mary Buszta Pitera and her brother and sister, John Pitera and Nellie Tomaszewski. Funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, 9:15 from Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Schenectady, NY 12306 or to Carmelite Monastery, 931 West Jefferson, Pittsford, NY 14684-1041.
