Schenectady - Barbara Urban, 87, went home to the Lord on June 26, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY to the late Kenneth and Florence Hare. Barbara lived most of her life in Schenectady and Glenville. She enjoyed reading, gardening, singing, dancing and being with all her family and friends. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Urban; the devoted mother to Eugenia Urban (Edith), Valerie Calder (Richard) and the late Claudia Urban. Barbara was the cherished grandmother to Steven Calder and Laura Malisheske (Michael). Barbara will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A funeral service will be held at The First Presbyterian Church at 115 Union Street, Schenectady on Monday, July 1 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. The funeral service will be given by Pastor Dr. Lawrence Roff. Interment will follow at the Park Cemetery, Sacandaga Rd., Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Animal Protective Foundation on Maple Ave. in Glenville would be greatly appreciated.
