Obituary of Thomas Jansen

Burnt Hills - Tommy Jansen, 19, passed away suddenly from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on July 2, 2013. Born in Niskayuna, NY, the beloved son of Elizabeth Malizia and James Jansen. Tommy was a graduate of Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School, currently a student at HVCC, studying auto mechanics, and working at Kulak's Nursery. His passion was riding motorcycles and racing quads (613). If he wasn't working or in school he was on his motorcycle. He was a member of the 2005 Burnt Hills Baseball 11 year old state championship team. Tommy's compassion, sense of humor and wisecracks brought a smile to all he encountered. He will be remembered for his incredible work ethic. He was happiest when his hands were dirty and he was busy. He will always be remembered for his hand-written, Tommy Original Birthday Cards. Tommy loved his dogs Max, Champ and Spike. He is survived by his mother, Lisa Malizia and stepfather, Tony Malizia; and dad, Jim Jansen and stepmother, Lisa Jansen. He is also survived by his beloved siblings Haley Jansen, Lauren Knightes, Kevin Knightes, Robbie Knightes, Anthony Malizia (Jenna) and Robert Malizia (Kristen); grandparents, JoAnn and Tom Friess, Jean and Hank Jansen, and Michael and Barbara Fasciglione; several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, teammates and riding buddies. Funeral service Saturday morning, 9 a.m. at St. Luke's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
