On July 9, I returned from Wimbledon only to find that Court had passed during my absence. He was a special person, and worked for me as a student in the sports information office at Cornell. We kept in touch over the years, and we would always renew our friendship when he returned for the annual Cornell Baseball Reunion game as a participant. It was son fitting that in June in came back, and in two times at bat, he walked and scored a run. What a proud moment this was for Courtney as he inspired us all. Court, you were a caring sole, and will be missed tremendously.

Court's life may have been too short, but he accomplished such amazing things during his brief time here on Earth.

I met Courtney in 1992 when I was playing baseball at Cornell University. He was friendly, kind, and one of the most enthusiastic supporters of Cornell that I ever met. He went out of his way to know about your life, where you were from, and your baseball statistics. He was quick to make you feel good when things were going well and even quicker with a laugh when you needed one. I have enjoyed seeing Courtney over the years at alumni baseball events at Cornell and will miss his contagious enthusiasm and incredibly positive disposition. This is a tremendous loss for everyone he touched.

I knew Court through Cornell Baseball and the annual reunion game. His final appearance at the game was memorable. My 12 year old son met him and talked to him. Courtney’s openness and willingness to share was a special attribute and created an opportunity for me with my son… an opportunity to share some important life-lessons. Primarily to remain optimistic and never give up, even when the deck is stacked against you. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Please count my son and me as people who were touched by Courtney. Rest in peace my friend.

Courtney was such a wonderful friend to the Cornell Baseball program. We spent many Reunion weekends enjoying Courtney's presence at our Alumni Game. Dear Courtney, Thanks for opening up your wellness journey the way you did over these past few months. I appreciated the chance to hear your progress, questions, frustrations, and strong determination. Your willingness to connect energetically during your transition made for some great fun in your hospital room on July 4th, with your intuited patriotic song requests and flag waving. You're available to us in an entirely new way now, and I've learned a lot from you as a result. Thanks for all of your work on our class reunions, sharing classmate updates at Pinhead Susan's, and for all of the high school carnations. See you around, I'm sure.
