Robert W. Bowman, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2010, at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, after a short illness. He was born March 17, 1941 at Ellis Hospital, the son of the late Robert E. and Eleanor E. Bowman. Bob attended CBA, where he played football and graduated in 1958 as the first graduating class of Linton High School. He graduated from Rider College in 1962 with a B.S. degree in commerce. He was drafted into the Army in 1962, later serving seven years in the Army Reserves. He worked for Crawford and Company in NYC and, in 1982, founded his own insurance brokerage firm, Corporate Benefit Planning, Latham. Bob was a member of Metroland Business Executives, National Assoc. of Health Underwriters, Northeastern Sub-contractors Association, Saratoga and Albany Counties Chambers of Commerce and Shaker Ridge Country Club. He will always be remembered for his bigger than life personality. Bob loved to socialize and made many lifelong friends. Bob was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed watching all sports. He is predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia Marie Bowman and brother-in-law, Claude H. Peters. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carol; and his beloved daughter, Kimberly (Major Guy) Berry of Annapolis, MD; a sister, Rosemary Bowman Peters; and many cousins and friends. Funeral service will be held on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. John the Evangelist Church, 816 Union St., Schenectady, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock to 8, in the evening, at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
