Mary Joan (Lussier) Joralemon, 86, formerly of Rotterdam Junction, NY, peacefully passed away on July 5th at the Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center. Joan was born on December 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Zephyr and Clara Gardner Lussier. She worked briefly at General Electric. She met her beloved husband, Jimmie, on a blind date and was married on November 28, 1943. During her life, she was a talented seamstress and an avid coin collector. She loved to travel, visiting Hawaii with Jimmie, and later going on trips to Alaska with Sister Mary Clare, and to Israel with her nieces, Cathy Caruso and Theresa Marie Petrozzi. Locally, Joan would occasionally take a trip to a casino for a day of one-armed bandits. Joan was a communicant of St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church in Rotterdam Junction and member of the rosary society and Bible study (Renew) for many years. Most of all, she was patient and caring mother, grandmother, and recently, great-grandmother. Joan is survived by her two daughters, Jeanne (Joseph) Montone of Schenectady, NY; Jacalyn (Gerald) Starnes of Clifton Park, NY; six grandchildren, Kathleen Heron, fiancée of Chad Seguin, Maureen Heron, Anthony Montone, Morgan Montone, Adam Starnes, Jennifer Starnes; and one great-grandchild, Emily Grace Seguin; sisters, Eleanor Johnson and Sister Mary Clare Lussier; brothers, Alfred and Paul Lussier; and several nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, James Joralemon; daughter, Janice Heron; son-in-law, John Heron; sisters, Margaret Cornell and Theresa Pucci; and brother, Edward Lussier. Viewing will be at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday 9 a.m. from the funeral home, then to St. Margaret of Cortona Church, Main St., Rotterdam Junction, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. The family would like to convey their heartfelt gratitude to the staff on S2 at Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center, for their compassion and kindness during Joan's stay. Donations be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, 385 Watervielt-Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110, or St. Margaret of Cortona Church, Rotterdam Junction, NY 12150.
