Schenectady - Mary Marie Bellassai, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. Marie was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of the late George and Ann Grieve. She met and married her husband, John Bellassai, during World War II and moved to the United States shortly after. Marie and John owned and operated Bell-Rod Manufacturing in Schenectady for many years and also were proud owners of harness horses at Saratoga. John predeceased Marie in 2007. Marie is survived by her sister, AnnaBell (Allan) Bourgeois; sister-in-law, Teresa Contino; nieces and nephews, Annmarie Bourgeois, Stephanie Bourgeois, A. G. Bourgeois, Stephan Bourgeois, Carol Lutters, Richard Contino and Ronald Contino; great-nieces and nephews, Joey Bourgeois, Paige Flood, Cameron Bourgeois, Braelyn Bourgeois, Christopher Saxton-Getty, Troy McGregor Saxton-Getty, Michael Contino, Matthew Contino, Mailin Contino, Julia Lutters and Jenifer Lutters. In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was predeceased by her brother, George Grieve. Calling hours will be Friday 4 to 6 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. The funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.
