Bakers Mills, NY - Jack A. Bacchia, 77, of Bakers Mills, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Ellis Hospital, after a brave personal battle with cancer, in the arms of his family. Jack was born in New York City, the son of Croatian immigrants. He resided in Queens until his retirement, where he built with his own hands in Bakers Mills. Jack's family helped many other families as they immigrated into the United States from Italy and Yugoslavia. He was honorably discharged and was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He learned cabinetry, carpentry, and owned and operated J. B. Custom Craft in Astora. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anita Codan Bacchia, the love of his life; two children, Maria and Jack; and his grandchildren who brought him great joy, Hana, Jeannette, Madison and Jack. The Bacchia family thanks Community Hospice, the staff on A-6 of Ellis Hospital and the Warrensburg Health Center. They are all caring and wonderful people. Thanks as well to the Daly Funeral Home.
