Schenectady - Esther E. Hogan, 96, of Duane Ave. died Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Ellis Hospital. She was born in Albany, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Coley Gibson. Esther attended Albany and Schenectady schools. At one time she worked at GEX; later working at Petta's Restaurant as a cook for 43 years, retiring at age 92 in 2009. She was of the Lutheran faith and had attended Lutheran churches in the Schenectady area. Esther will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Esther was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Hogan; he died in 1972. She is survived by three children, William (Dorie) Hogan of Port Charlotte, FL, Richard Hogan of Schenectady and Tina (Albert) Novak; a sister, Charlotte Pelky of Schenectady; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Esther was predeceased by a grandson, Douglas Hogan. Funeral service Wednesday morning 11 o'clock at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 at the funeral home. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady County Sheriff (for the Canine Program purchasing bullet proof vests), 320 Veeder Ave., Schenectady, NY 12305.
