Obituary of Robert Ryan

Schenectady - Bob Ryan, 87, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, August, 30 2013 with his loving family by his side. A veteran of World War II, he was born in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late William and Clara (Domres) Ryan. He was a graduate of the first class of LeMoyne College, 1951. He was a 35-year employee of General Electric in Syracuse and Schenectady, NY, retiring in 1986. Bob was a member of St. Kateri Tekawitha Parish, serving as a eucharistic minister for many years at the church and the Glendale Nursing Home which gave him great joy. Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane (Drais) Ryan; and his children, Stephen (Juanita) of Truckee, CA, and Mary L. Ryan of Clifton Park, NY; his three grandchildren, Juliett, Stephen, and Kristina; his dear brother, Donald Ryan of Plattsburgh, NY; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased in 2011 by his son, Christopher J. Ryan. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be on Wednesday morning at 8:15 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 Mcclellan St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 1803 Union Street, Schenectady, NY.
