Arthur R. Ward, 97, of Belmont Ave., lifelong resident of Schenectady, died peacefully at home, after a brief illness. Arthur was born in Schenectady, the son of George and Ella Ward and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. During the Great Depression he obtained a job in the mailroom of the General Electric Co., advancing to the purchasing agent and marketing specialist. His knowledge became instrumental in the pricing of all gas turbine parts sold overseas. He made frequent trips to Europe from the home office in New York City, and retired in 1982 with 47 years service. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen (Downs) Ward, and their daughter, Linda Sponholz. Arthur is survived by his son, Robert (Julie Fournier) Ward of Scotia and Margaret (Larry) Hanover of Naples, Fl; a grandson, Christopher Ward of Saratoga Springs and a nephew, David Ward of West Covina, CA. Funeral service Friday morning 11:30 at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours Thursday evening 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
