Obituary of Patricia Schlamowitz

Patricia Hotaling DeRocher Schlamowitz, 68, of State Highway 5S, died Saturday, October 5, 2013, at home surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. Pat was lovingly known as Patty to many, and was born in Schenectady, the daughter of Milton and Anna Mary Hotaling. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and had attended SCCC and Empire State College. Pat worked with direct care with the Center for the Disabled, later working for Living Resources as a program manager service coordinator with family and child services. Pat enjoyed her membership with the Roamers Motorcycle Club and was a past officer and is also a past officer of the Scotia Glenville Elks #2759. Patty loved being with people, helping others and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, loved by all who were fortunate to be in her life. She is survived by one son, Gary (Patti) DeRocher Jr.; two sisters, Audrey Matern and Linda (Lenny) Niemiec; five grandchildren, Eric, Nicole, Brittany, Adriana and Juliana; two great-granddaughters, Lily and Emma; cousins, nieces and nephews. Patty was predeceased by siblings, Diane Hewitt, Thomas and Levere Hotaling. Funeral service Tuesday evening 7:30 at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours Tuesday evening 5 to 8 at the funeral home with the Scotia-Glenville Elks service at 7 p.m. Interment Greenhill Cemetery, Amsterdam.
