William J. Joe Moore, 67, of Scotia, gently passed away at his home on December 6, 2013. He was born on January 23, 1946 in Ellenburg Depot, NY to the late Arthur and Ethel Moore. He graduated from Ellenbug High School, then went on to obtain his BA in fine arts from SUNY Oswego and his MS in counseling from SUNY Albany. He had a varied and eclectic career from roofing, construction and ski lift operator, to teaching art class, guidance counselor and retiring as an administrative professional from SUNY Central. His hobbies and interests included: reading, learning, photography, travel and family. He combined his love of photography and travel in taking two cross country road trips across the United States through Alaska, in which he witnessed and photographed natural wonders that few get to view up close. His greatest passion was being a dad, father, friend and consummate educator to his son, William J. Joe Moore 2nd of Rotterdam, NY; and step-son, David Galluzzo of Brunswick, NY. His wisdom, kindness, patience and ever-caring presence will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his son, William J. Joe Moore 2nd and wife, Amanda Moore of Rotterdam; step-son, David Galluzzo with wife, Carrie Galluzzo; and grandchildren, Dawson and Delaney Galluzzo of Brunswick; former spouse, Rita E. Moore of Scotia; sisters, Hazel Veivia of Schenectady, Dawne Moore of Malone and Elsie Oliver of Malone; brothers, Richard Moore of Ellenburg, Hollis Moore of Dover Plains and Maurice Mose Moore (predeceased) of Ellenburg; along with various nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Memorial service from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, December 13th at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, NY 12304. On Saturday, December 14th, there will also be additional calling hours from 3 to 4:30 p.m., with memorial service beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Ross Funeral Home, 2586 Route 11, Mooers, NY 12958. It is politely requested, that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following organizations in his name, the American Lung Association National Headquarters 1301 Pennsylvania Ave NW Suite 800, Washington DC 20004.
