Schenectady - Eva M. Sokol of Union St., died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Eva was born in Schenectady, the daughter of Olav and Eva Kulle and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. At one time she worked at General Electric Co. She was a longtime member of the Albany Artists Association. Eva studied under Harold Mott Smith, Sal Casio and Ted Batzell, for 15 years she studied in the summer with Morris Davidson in Provincetown, MA. She displayed her art at the annual Stockade Art Show and also showed her work at the Schenectady Public Library and the Unitarian Art Show. Eva was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and will be rembered for her devotion and care of her mary cats through the years. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert R. Sokol; they were married 57 years at the time of his death in 2008. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, John and Dorothy Sokol of Schenectady; cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral service, Thursday morning 10 a.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church, corner of Brandywine and Eastern Ave., Schenectady. Calling hours, Wednesday evening 6 to 8 at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment, Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
