Obituary of Norma Mueller

Schenectady - Norma Elaine (John) Mueller, 84, of Schenectady, NY, passed away Friday. She was born to the late Edward Francis and Mary Ellen John, May 7, 1929 in Schenectady, NY. Norma graduated from St. Columba High School in 1948 and received her license to practice as a registered nurse in 1951. This was predated by study at the College of St. Rose where she earned her BS in nursing. She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Mueller. After college, Norma worked for one year as a public health nurse prior to her employment at Schenectady Pediatrics for 57 years, starting under Dr. Dominick Mele and retiring in September of 2013. Norma was a 50 year member of the St. Rose Alumni Association and the Golden Roses. She was a past member of the Bishop Gibbons Mother's Club as well as a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Rosary Society and St. Elizabeth Ladies Auxiliary. Norma played golf in the Knights of St. John He/She League and bowled with St. Elizabeth's Auxiliary Bowling League. Norma is survived by three children, Mary Kathleen Mueller, John E. Mueller (Mary) and Mary Ellen Thom (William). She also is survived by two grandchildren, William E. and Ian P. Thom; a brother, J. Edward John; a brother-in-law, Frank A. Mueller, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Monday 4 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home then to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Schenectady, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. St. Elizabeth's Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John will gather at 6 p.m. Monday for a service at the funeral home.
